Baby News

Well, I said before that there was more news on the way, and here it is! Kerri hasn't been feeling well for about a month now, and that's not like her. We had an idea, but she went to the doctor to confirm. Kerri is PREGNANT! Yesterday, we got to meet him/her for the first time through the ultrasound. The little fellow is only about an inch big right now, and is about 2 months along. We are excited for what God has in store for our child and our fast growing family. First a new puppy, and now a child! Please pray for us and where we are to live, work, and all the new life changing decisions coming up. God bless and thank you God for this child!

6 months in

So, it's been over a half a year since i have written in this thing. Needless to say, things have been a whirlwind. Kerri and I have been happily married for 6 months as of tomorrow. Our wedding was beautiful in September with a great clear skied day. We had an awesome but tiresome honeymoon on Disney where we tried to do everything while there. We have been living with Kerri's brother and his wife in their house which was been nice on us financially, but it will be nice to be somewhere with a little more space soon. I say this because we now have a cute little puppy named Jazz. He is an american bulldog/labrador retriever mix who is full of energy. I'm sure he will appreciate the extra space to run around and play soon. We are hoping by the summer to have found someplace else, so let us know if you find anything. Kerri has been promoted at her new job as the recreation director at a nursing home in Natick, MA. The job keeps her busy, but she is helping so many people stay active later in their lives. My job has been stressful with layoffs looming, and I would love to find a new opportunity. We would love to hear from you to see how you are all doing? More news and updates to come soon.

Less Than a Month to Go!

Well, it's been a long time since I have written in this thing (yet again), but here goes nothing. Today is August 22nd, which means the wedding is less than a month away. I'm not really stressed or nervous or anything, which I guess is good. Sometimes planning gets a little overwhelming, but not too bad. Kerri is picking up my ring today, and ordering hers. Our honeymoon itinerary for Disney World arrived yesterday, so we have to pick that up as well. This weekend, all my Crossroads friends are going camping, but I can't make the time this weekend which is a bit of a bummer. (A little more on this later). Here's my wedding schedule, in case you care, but I feel like typing this out will somehow make it easier for me to comprehend that it's less than a month away:

August 30th - Meet with wedding coordinator
September 6th - Bachelor party
September 19th - Rehearsal
September 20th - Wedding Day
September 22nd - 28th - Honeymoon to Disney World

I've also been pretty busy besides the wedding. Our youth group at the new church has been running nicely lately. We took the U-Turn kids to SoulFest, which was a blast. I really enjoyed the Hard as Nails ministry guys a lot, they had some amazing thing to say. Check them out at www.HANM.org.
I also starting singing in the worship team a week ago, which has been different. I have never really sung in a microphone before, only large choirs. I'm sining the bass lines, and its hurting my vocal chords already. I guess it's time to remember my vocal stretches from my college days.
Sunday School has been on hiatus for the month of August, which is a nice rest. We also have our FunFest for the church coming up on September 13th, which is a fun FREE event for the community in Bellingham. If you want to help volunteer that day, contact me!

I know I am missing a bunch of things here, but oh well. I also wish I had more time to golf, because that is relaxing. I did shoot a 48 for 9 holes last weekend, which is pretty good, but I could have done 5 strokes better. Oh well. I hope everyone is well out there on the blogosphere. God Bless!

Busy, Busy, Busy

Things have been nuts since my last update, which I realize was right after Kerri and I got engaged. The holidays were a blur, the winter has been way too long, but the sun is shining and baseball has begun!!! Kerri and I have been planning this wedding with some ease, and some nervousness. It costs a ton of money to have a wedding with 200 people, but God has blessed us so much. We have a venue (Blissful Meadows Golf Course in Uxbridge, MA) a photographer and a DJ. We know we are doing well with plans, but things feel crazy all in the same. Church is good, Crossroads is good, my new position at work has been stressful, but you know how it is. Anyways, all in all, God is good. I hope you are all doing well. God Bless!

SHE SAID YES!!!

If you haven't already guessed, I asked Kerri to marry me and she said yes. So, needless to say it's been an extremely exciting couple of weeks for me. I decided to post this story because everyone is asking "how I asked her", and I figured this would be the easiest way to tell everyone.

The Story - On Saturday, November 3rd, Kerri and I made plans to drive out to the Berkshires to do some hiking since Kerri had never been. Hiking and nature has kinda become our "thing" to do in this past year of getting to know her, so I saw this day as a perfect opportunity to propose. One little thing had me very nervous, and that was Hurrican Noel that was coming up the cost, and not more than 10 miles to the east of where we were, was slamming Massachusetts all that same day. Anyways, we got up at 5 in the morning to beat the rain and we drove to the Berkshires, and we drove along the Mohawk Trail, which is very run down looking until you get out to North Adams. I'm thinking in my head, "This isn't very romantic" and she fell asleep on the drive from boredom. Anyways, we had coffee in North Adams, and I really had no idea where I was going to ask her, I just knew I wanted to ask her on a hike, preferablly at a waterfall. I started out the day with directions to a waterfall, but me being the dummy that I am, I left the directions on my desk at home. At the coffee shop, I saw a state park guide with a picture of a waterfall, and I knew that was where we were going to go. After driving around North Adams for a while, I decided to drive back to the Savoy State Forest which we had passed on the way in Florida (town, not state), Massachusetts. We were going to do a quick hike to a place called Tannory Falls, but we just happened to enter the State Forest on the wrong side and we had to drive over some really sketchy dirt roads. We drove along these dirt roads with lots of pot holes for about 45 minutes, and Kerri at this point was hyperventalating because she thought we were going to be stranded in the woods. I'm thinking to myself, "please don't be mad at me now, if only you knew what I was about to ask you."
We finally arrive to the parking area to the Falls and got out of the car and calmed down a little bit. I wasn't really all that nervous considering what I was about to do. Kerri claims she had an idea I was going to ask her that day, and was subconsciously hyperventalating about that, but I'm not too convinced. We hiked out the 10 minute hike to Tannory Falls, which is a beautiful 80 foot waterfall in the middle of nowhere that cascades at an angle. The view was priceless and not another person in sight. I decided we were going to sit down and take a break. Kerri says she was thinking to herself "Sit down, get on your knee." At that point since she couldn't find any sign of a ring box in my pockets and that we were sitting down, she was convinced I wasn't going to ask her that day. Perfect! We had a sip of water I suggested that we read from the Bible. We talked on the way up about what the Bible says about husbands and wives (we had been discussing marriage for a couple of months), and I told her I would show her sometime. I opened up to Ephesians 5:22-33 and read about Husbands and Wives. Apparently I was nervous, though i didn't feel it at all, and I missed about 7 or 8 words when reading. I put the Bible on her lap and suggested she read something that I had bookmarked and that I needed to get something out of my backpack. She opened to the bookmark which was set for 1 John 4:7-16 which is all about "God is Love" As she opened up to that page I kneeled in front of her, and on that passage I had placed the ring for her. The ring fell out of the Bible and I catched it and asked her to be my wife. SHE SAID YES!!! It was perfect and we have both been glowing ever since. We told our parents and friends that night after we got home. Her mom was in shock, and her dad was happy. My mom hugged us for 5 minutes, and my dad was elated. We were planning a wedding no less than 4 hours after she said yes. It's been a whirlwind, but an exciting one!
